Where have I been???

Wow - seems like such a long time since my last bloggidy-blog-blog. Here goes...

My dear husband is crashed out with really bad allergies right now. I ran for 20 minutes today, day three of week 5 of the Couch to 5K. My legs hurt. I hate my job and want to quit, go work at some trendy little design company, even if it means stuffing envelops so I can finish my jewelry degree. I'm designing a cool little pair of earrings. I need to start naming my pieces... Oh, and I saw Squeeze in concert for the third time, not counting the time Cindy and I saw Glen Tilbrook on his solo tour at Antone's. I'm actually in a clip of the documentary that was made about his tour... http://www.glennmovie.com/trailers/up_the_junction_highspeed.mov. Okay, you can barely see me, BUT I'M THERE! Check out the picture of him and Chris Difford I took at the concert. We were about 4 feet way from them...I was in HEAVEN.

And now I'm off to bed...Buenas Noches, todos.

The Honeymoon's Over

And I don't mean my marriage, oh no. I mean the kids. They were sweet little angels last week, all shy and stuff. And today they threw around the attitude and apathy like there was no tomorrow. I told myself this week things would be different today and hell if they weren't. I swear, if I could, I would take every last child at that school and send them to boot camp. BUT: it's got nothing to do with me...I hope. I have to remember that. Whew - being a teacher is hard, folks.

However, I'm still oh so proud of my classroom - just take a peek at the before and after shots, why don't you, and tell me you wouldn't want to hang in Mrs. C's room...

WILL I EVER GET THIS LOOKING GOOD??

    AND AFTER!!VOILA!

ANOTHER "BEFORE":

AND THE "AFTER":

I don't know if the kids appreciate it, but I do. My wonderful husband helped me paint. He was so helpful. He gathered kids, like Blake, to throw stuff out, took time of his own to get all sweaty and help move stuff around, and without his help I wouldn't have gotten it done and we wouldn't have gone to Colorado!!

I'm makin' some kick-ass lentils right now, listening to the Marie Antoinette soundtrack, and enjoying being at home...

It's been a while...

Man, I haven't had a chance to blog in a long time. I have so much to say, too...will I have enough space? I wonder how long a blog can be, anyway...

First week of school down. Don't want to get my hopes up, but it was a good week. My feet hurt like hell, but Karavel Shoe store will hopefully take care of that. Our principal commended the campus on the fact that only 11 referrals were written in the first week...is that good? Apparently it is. Normally there are 11 referrals written A DAY. Hmmm...

Meeting Leah today to talk about photographing my jewelry pieces. Very excited about that. One next step toward my goal. I just wish I could take a real class in lost wax casting, like go to Italy or something one summer and spend some time learning from the old-timers, you know, the ones who really know the art. I'm sure it's just a matter of investigating.

I keep comparing my work to "Small Things". Damn, her stuff it good. Check her out at smallthingsdesigns.com. Sigh...

I registered for my first 5K! May not sound like much to some, but for this "non-runner" it's quite a big deal! I'm on week 3 of the Couch to 5K program and I'm feeling pretty good. Wow. Just had to stop for a second and just let the thought that I'm actually running soak in. Don't tell anyone, but I'm actually liking it. :)

Better get out there before the effects of Gustav hit...
