Kitchen Re-do...

If I weren't so damn tired, I'd post pictures of our kitchen re-do, but we've been working so hard for the last 4 days that I can barely even move.

Re-doing a kitchen is a lot of hard work. Period. All these years I've dreamed of home improvement, taking a little dud and turning it into a jewel. Little did I know how physical it would all be. Here's a list of what we've done so far and where we stand:

1. Removed everything from kitchen and set up temp. kitchen in garage.

2. Removed cabinet doors. 45 min.

3. Took down tile backsplash. This consisted of hammering, prying drywall off, removing nails, and using a carpenters knife to level out the existing drywall. 5 hours.

4. Removed counter tops. This also requires some prying with the hammer and screw driver, lifting them up and carrying them out to the garage. 45 min.

5. Sanded all cabinet doors and cabinet frames. Hard damn work. Dusty. Wore mask and goggles. 4-5 hours.

6. Stained cabinet doors and frames. Easy money. 1 hour.

Today we tried to install new counter tops. Our circular saw is unfamiliar with us and didn't cooperate completely. We have to get to know each other still. Not a problem. But we decided to put off completing this part of the project until later...whatever that means!

Our reward is a night at the Bakehouse...a much needed dinner of supernachos and maybe dessert!
